Moto Morocco

It's not a holiday- it's an adventure!

Sample day Itinerary

Every day on a trip can be different- some days we ride for longer periods, others shorter.

This depends on where we are, how people are getting on and the weather conditions- nobody likes to ride when it’s over 45° c so on really hot days we start earlier in the morning to avoid the heat, have a longer break at lunchtime then finish off our day slightly later so that everyone is comfortable and enjoys the trip.

This is a rough idea of what a day would look like though, just to give you an idea.

  • 7am Meet for breakfast and leave bags with support truck for packing
  • 8am Set off for the day
  • 8am-1pm several stops (as required) for drinks, photos etc
  • 1pm (plus or minus, depending on location and cafe availability) stop for lunch at roadside cafe or in town/village. Typical lunch tagine, flatbread, couscous, soft drink and /or tea & coffee- Mint tea (”Berber Whisky”) highly commended!
  • 2pm -5pm Afternoon’s riding with several stops as required
  • 5-6pm Arrive at hotel after refuelling in the same town, ‘fettle’ bikes that need it (chain lube, minor adjustments etc), collect your room key from Support vehicle driver who will already be there
  • 8pm Meet in hotel restaurant for briefing and evening meal

We hold a short briefing each night about the next day’s riding that covers the terrain, likely weather conditions and riding kit needed, discuss any problems or talk about tips on how to tackle new things if necessary( E.G. Sandy tracks)

All but two or three of the hotels we use serve beer and wine- if we are planning to use a ‘dry’ hotel, we normally carry some emergency reserves in the support truck.

On most trips, we have at least one place that we stop in for two nights, in addition to having a nominated ‘rest’ day where we also spend two nights at the same hotel- this means you should have ample chance to wash and dry clothes (most of our hotels offer this as as service which costs very little) and on the rest day, we can fix most problems with a bike that needs it.

What you do on the rest day is completely up to you- we will take a group our on a circular ride if you’d like to see more of the area (we choose the rest day town specifically to offer a good route) or you can laze around the pool (nearly all of the hotels we use, and certainly the one chosen for the rest day will have a swimming pool). You can also either go off and explore the area on your own (we do like bikes to go in pairs if possible though for safety reasons) or at some locations, there are other things we can organise for you – A camel trip through the palmeries is a very popular option! (these extras are obviously not included as in the cost of your trip but are relatively inexpensive and quite unforgettable!)
